Our Care Sevices
Who lives in a Rest Home?
Most of our residents are pretty independent, have their wits about them but aren’t quite able to live in their own home anymore. Usually a combination of several of these things flag that it’s time for a bit more support: not cooking meals or taking medications regularly, becoming increasingly forgetful or confused, having small falls and accidents around the home, becoming lonely as it becomes difficult to stay in touch with friends and do the things they used to do.
Who is eligible for residential care?
Our services are typically provided to older persons, however, we have successful history of providing services to adults of all ages.
To find out if you require residential care, you can undergo a needs assessment with your local district health board (DHB). For more information of how to move into a rest home click here.In the first instance you should discuss your health with your GP who may refer you for assessment. If you have questions about how to get an assessment, contact us and we may be able to assist.

In our experience, a number of our residents start with one of our homes as a ‘day care’ or a ‘respite care’ resident. This gives them the opportunity to explore ‘how living in a rest home is going to be’ and then later move in permanently, once they feel confident about it.
Convalescent Care
This type of care is typically suited for anyone who has been recently discharged from hospital, but feel that they require more time in a medical facility before they can return to their own home.
Convalescent care does not always require a needs assessment or referral from the DHB as mentioned above. For a private requirement please contact us.
